FAQs

Do you use fixative?

No. Fixative will alter the colors and vibrancy of the painting. It also does a poor job of keeping the pastel from moving. The paper I paint on does a great job of securing the pastel.

Does my painting need to be framed?

Yes, definitely and preferably by a professional framer. Your painting will include an informational care sheet.

Is shipping included in the price?

No, there is an additional charge for shipping depending upon the size and zipcode. In the US I use the USPS priority mail. Your painting will usually arrive in 2-3 days.

Can you work from lower quality photos?

Yes, usually. The truth is, the better the quality of the photos, the more accurately I’ll be able to capture the pet’s coloring and personality.

Can you combine pets from different photographs?

Yes. If I’m working from multiple photos I will provide you with a mockup(s) to give you an idea of how the pets will be arranged in the painting.

What method of payments do you take?

I accept Paypal, Venmo and Zelle.

Photography Tips

Tip #1

Photographing your pet at eye level generally creates the most flattering portraits. If you’re working with a small pet, it might help to place them up on some furniture when taking the photograph.

Tip #2

No flash. Flash photography will usually give your pets red eyes and alter the color of their fur.

Tip #3?

Try to take your photograph outside or next to a window. Natural lighting captures your pet’s fur coloring more accurately.

Tip #4?

If you’re photographing your pet outside, cloudy days work best. Bright sunlight can cause harsh shadows or blowout the natural coloration of your pet.

Tip #5?

Use treats and toys to help your active pet be still and look where you’d like. An extra set of hands helps to man the treats while the other person captures the photo.
